… Sarebbe salutata dal vasto popolo degli appassionati con un’incredibile entusiasmo. Come la Fiat 500, come la New Beetle, come la Mini, l’Alfa Romeo Duetto, nata nel lontano 1966 (e rimasta in produzione fino ai primi anni 90 dopo molti aggiornamenti) e resa famosa dalla magistrale interpretazione di Dustin Hoffman ne “Il lauerato”, è uno di quei miti automobilistici su ruote che meriterebbe un’edizione moderna, sottolineata nelle forme avveniristiche dei bozzetti che pubblichiamo. Il che sarebbe anche, senza dubbio, un grande guadagno di immagine per il marchio Alfa stesso, così avaro, negli ultimi anni di creazioni che possano definirsi “autentiche” Alfa dal cuore sportivo (le cose cominciano, sembra, a girare per il verso giusto con la 8C Competizione). Come sottolineano i colleghi di Worldcarfans, se Antonio Baravalle avesse un desiderio, sarebbe certamente quello di riportare il mitico Duetto sulle nostre strade. Una spider c’è già ed è la versione scoperta della Brera. Ma secondo il boss dell’Alfa, per il centenario del marchio del Biscione, nel 2010, sarebbe fantastico poter ricreare la Duetto. |

There are plenty of cars in popular culture synonymous with their spiritual place in history, be it James Bond's infamous Astons or Michael Cane's Italian Job Minis. But if boss of Alfa Romeo, Antonio Baravelle, were to have just one wish, it would be to bring the Alfa Duetto back to our roads - the car famously used by Dustin Hoffman in 1967's film "The Graduate". Owing much of its success to Hoffman's film and even branded as the 'Alfa Graduate' in the States, the Duetto was a two-seater drop-top sports car first launched in 1966, undergoing a number of upgrades before ceasing production in 1994. The Spider was then re-invented into a 'replacement' Brera in 2006. But Baravelle wishes to add another new soft-top to the firm's product portfolio. He wants a new Spider seating only two; a "small, compact, very low [car], exactly like the Duetto was back then." And with Alfa's centenary arriving in 2010, the Head of Alfa Romeo says "he likes the idea of having a new version of the Duetto with which to celebrate." Following the announcement that Alfa Romeo has set targets to double its sales and return to profitability in the same year, a continuance of the trend to bring coveted classic models back to the future, such as the retro new Fiat 500, may not be out of the question, particularly with such enthusiasm from the Alfa boss and with a realistic market entry point. The new car could open up a stylish but affordable new premium-packaged model for younger buyers as a step onto the Alfa ladder. Watch this space. |
ernst zu nehmen?
ist das ernst zu nehmen. ist damit zu rechnen, dass 2010 zum 100-jährigen jubiläum eine neuauflage des duetto kommt. wer genau von alfa hat das gesagt? weiss jemand mehr?
wäre auf jeden fall eine wirklich sehr gute idee, ein neues kleines cabrio. er müsste dann nur auch deutlich billiger werden als der brera... |

Du meinst glaube ich den MX5. Der Mazda 5 ist ein Minivan. Aber das ist mir auch als erstes durch den Kopf gegangen. Jedoch ist der MX5 einer der letzten richtigen Roadster, die man noch kaufen kann. Mit Heckantrieb und relativ spartanisch ausgestattet würde sich so ein Alfa Junior Spider gut machen im Sortiment. Die Retro- Anleihen mit der Sicke in der Flanke, die Duetto Rückleuchten und die klassische Front kommen auch gut rüber und wirken trotzdem modern. So darf er von mir aus kommen. Gruss Chris |
